SAM'S VISIT

On 26th January we were visited by the Sam Maguire cup! (Or the “Kerry” cup as it was overheard being called). It was accompanied by players David Moran, Joe O Connor, Stefan Okunbor and Greg Horan. David Moran said if we gave a loud enough cheer that we might get off homework and honestly the roof almost lifted with roars! Mr O’ Connell acknowledged the stellar career David Moran had for the past 15 years in the Kerry jersey and we wished him well in his retirement.
The players addressed the entire school in the hall and later, each class got to pose for photos. They all autographed a sheet which was copied and given to everyone going home. Thanks so much to the players for their time.
Thanks to Joe Costello of St. Pat’s who organised this for us and sincere thanks to Joe for presenting the school with a framed photo of this winning Kerry team.

Credit Union Quiz

Well done to our two under 13 teams in today's Cara Credit Union Quiz which was held in the Kerry Sports Complex on Sunday 29th January 2023. Both teams did very well. Thanks to all in Cara Credit Union for organising. Special thanks goes to our 5th class teacher Mr Foley for accompanying the teams today and for his time along with Ms Moriarty and Ms Moynihan in the preparation for the day.

Grandparents' Day

Thanks Francis Nolan for two beautiful services on Friday 27th January 2023 to mark Grandparents Day as part of Catholic Schools Week. It was wonderful to welcome members of our school community into our school building once again after a difficult few years. It was fabulous to witness the children acknowledging the important role their grandparents play in their lives.
Thanks to all who attended, and to our wonderful staff for all their dedicated work in preparation for the day. Thanks to our student teacher Molly for videoing both services. The link was shared with all families.

Kerins O'Rahilly's

We are so proud of past pupil TJ Heaphy and his teammates from Kerins O'Rahilly's GAA who visited us on 20th December 2022. TJ’s brothers Tadgh and Cian are pupils in our school. TJ was joined by Cormac Coffey who did his teaching practice in Blennerville, Jack Savage, Daniel Bowler and Gearoid Hartnett. They brought with them the Kerry Club Championship trophy and the Munster Championship trophy.
TJ said that “practice makes perfect” and Cormac encouraged all the children to stay active over the Christmas and he suggested taking up a new sport in the New Year and said that everyone was welcome at Kerins O’Rahillys club, if their heart isn’t already with another club, so maybe join team KOR in the New Year!
The boys will take on Kilmacud Crokes in the ALL IRELAND Senior football Championship semi-final in January in CROKE PARK! We wish you the very best of luck lads. PLEASE call back with the next trophy! Ye can do it!
